Lulu Group Set to Open First Mall in Hyderabad by August

Lulu Group, a prominent UAE-based retailer, is preparing to make its entry into Telangana with the upcoming launch of its first mall in the state capital, Hyderabad. The Chairman of Lulu Group, Yusuff Ali MA, made the exciting announcement during a press conference held on Monday.

Yusuff Ali MA stated that the decision to invest in the state stemmed from numerous discussions and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the government of Telangana. The agreement was forged during Industry Minister KT Rama Rao’s visit to the United Arab Emirates, where Lulu Group is headquartered. The company’s expansion into Telangana represents a significant milestone.

The grand inauguration of Lulu Mall is scheduled for August 2023. Hyderabad will become the sixth city, following Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Coimbatore, to house a Lulu Group mall. The sprawling 5 lakh square feet shopping destination, formerly known as Manjeera Mall, has been rebranded as Lulu Mall. It aims to offer an unparalleled international shopping experience to the people of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.

Once operational, the mall will feature a magnificent Lulu Hypermarket, showcasing over 75 local and international brands, a state-of-the-art cinema with five screens and a seating capacity of 1,400, a diverse multi-cuisine food court, and a captivating children’s entertainment center. Conveniently situated in Kukatpally, the mall is poised to create employment opportunities for more than 2,000 individuals, as confirmed by the Chairman of Lulu Group.

In addition to the mall, Lulu Group has allocated Rs 200 crore for an export-oriented modern integrated meat processing plant in Chengicherla. This facility is expected to have a daily production capacity of 60 tonnes and is projected to commence operations within the next 18 months.

Moreover, Lulu Group has committed further investments of Rs 3,500 crore in Telangana over the next five years. This includes the development of a destination shopping mall in Hyderabad with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore, as well as the establishment of mini malls on the outskirts of Hyderabad and other major cities and towns in the state, amounting to an investment outlay of Rs 1,000 crore.

Yusuff Ali MA also revealed that Lulu Group has plans to establish an agriculture sourcing and logistics hub near the Hyderabad Airport. This hub aims to facilitate exports and promote locally produced Telangana goods across India and the world. Additionally, the company intends to establish a seafood procurement and processing center to support the fishing industry.

With more than 250 hypermarkets and 24 shopping malls spanning 22 nations, Lulu Group has been rapidly expanding its presence in India. The company has made significant investments in food processing and retail projects in Ahmedabad, Chennai, Srinagar, Greater Noida, and Varanasi.

Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Lulu Group has earned a reputation as a trailblazer in the retail industry across the Middle East and North Africa region. Its portfolio includes over 250 hypermarkets and supermarkets, attracting discerning shoppers from the GCC, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and beyond.
