HYDERABAD: Stating that there cannot be any multiple FIRs in a single offence, the Telangana HC has directed the Hyderabad police authorities, who are investigating the cases filed against realty firm Sahithi Infra Tech Ventures, to treat all of them as one single case.

The first FIR should be treated as the main case and the statements of complainants in all the subsequent FIRs should be added to the first FIR, said a bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N Tukaramji.

Following complaints from various homebuyers, Hyderabad police have registered cases against Boodati Lakshmi Narayana, managing director of Sahithi Infra, for allegedly cheating people in the name of constructing flats.

He allegedly collected huge sums in the name of flats, pre-launch offers, etc., but failed to deliver the promised flats. This was the main allegation in all all the FIRs filed against him.

The bench was hearing as many as 42 appeals filed by the accused realtor’s wife,Parvathi, and son Sathwik challenging the order of a single judge who earlier directed police to register FIRs and transfer them to the central crime station for a comprehensive probe.

Their counsel P Roy Reddy said that registering several FIRs was unlawful and would not serve anyone’s purpose. There were delays due to Covid-19, but the firm and management were ready to fulfil the promises, he said.

He also conveyed to the court that in Ameenpur venture alone, police registered as many as 46 FIRs. The bench agreed with his contention and said that all subsequent info should be transmitted to police dealing with first FIR.
